Drone Policy The current use of drones to fight terrorism appears to be yielding negative results to U.S. administration. Drones have been preferred for terrorism attacks as they spare the lives of civilians depending on the fact that the attacks are carried out in battle restricted regions (Kolodkin, 2011). The U.S. has utilized drones to undertake objective killings of terrorist operators overseas for example, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia and Afghanistan (Kolodkin, 2011).
The concern is that their lithium batteries alone could cause an engine fire. Multiple drones flown at these engines for deliberate effect could cause a mass casualty event. Clearly the misapplication of “dual use” chemicals or recreational drones poses new challenges for security in the age of terrorist attack.
This essay will evaluate whether or not the deployment of drones on the modern battlefield in countries such as Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan alongside their usage domestically in countries such as the United States not only meets the requirements of the rules of engagement (ROE) for each of these theatres (with regard to the domestic theatre federal laws) but if their usage is moral.
